The Psalmist states in chapter 66:18 nkjv, that “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear.” When Christians read or hear those words, they grow frustrated with their lack of understanding of what this text really means.
Iniquity in our heart is the only barrier we have true fellowship withGod. The cherished sins that we have, are those we love, value, and hold onto despite how much God speaks to our hearts. We often see sin as only behaviour or physical actions, but it should be defined relative to our relationship with God.
Sin, my dearly beloved separates us from God, because sin is notin His character. Our relationship with God is broken because ofsin, so because we are not connected with Him, we do things contrary to His nature.
Could this separation be present because we are ignoring God’s will for us. Is this the reason for this feeling of separation, which leads us to conclude that the Lord is not hearing us? This lack of confidence that God is not hearing us, shakes us up and disrupts the assurance that we would otherwise feel when we talk with God. For us as Christians, this naturally disrupts our prayer life and causes us to feel alone.
In Psalm 66:19 nkjv, David with confidence states, “But certainly, God has attended to the voice of my prayer.” My dearly beloved, we can feel forgiven, pray, and walk in confidence with God, when we are certain (having resolved our relationship with Him) that we are forgiven. Be confident that your sins are forgiven, and that God loves you with an everlasting love! He longs to hear from
you!
